March 22, 2015 - Robert Taliaferro, 88, a retired Memphis sanitation worker, plays with his cat, Lily Mae, while sitting in his front yard on Davis St. in Hyde Park Sunday afternoon. Taliaferro, who has lived in this neighborhood for 70 years, has been unofficially named the mayor of Hyde Park by a church member from Macedonia Missionary Baptist. "This use to be a fine neighborhood, but its done changed now," says Taliaferro. "A lot of folks don't clean up, not like they're supposed to." He adds Hyde Park was number one in its prime. "We were number one," Taliaferro states. "The city use to be number one a long time ago ... the cleanest city on the map years ago." (Yalonda M. James/The Commercial Appeal)
